About This Superstar

Age of Diagnosis
3 years old, after much research and testing

How INAD had Impacted Their Life
Jasper’s life has changed from a toddler who could crawl, communicate, drink, eat and see to a child who needs assistance with all basic things. INAD has taken away his ability to eat and drink and he is now dependent on a feeding pump. At night he has extra oxygen and 24 hours per day we monitor his oxygen levels and heart rate

Favorite Activities
We used to ride horses with Jasper, but due to hip displacement, we now go swimming. And when the weather is good, we go out for a walk

Favorite Foods
Each morning, Jasper enjoys some whipped cream with coffee together with his mother

Favorite Television/Movie Character
Peppa Pig

Favorite Books
Nijntje

Parent’s Favorite Motto or Expression
Don’t give up and never take no for an answer in hospitals

What They Would Like the World to Know About Their Experience Living with INAD
Living with INAD has changed our outlook on life. We used to be career driven persons. These days we try to make the best of it, family first. All other things come second. Sometimes we fear things that will come, but we always try to enjoy the moment. Our social life has changed, with fear of infections, before Covid we were already living in a sort of lockdown.

The last years have been like a roller coaster ride. With lows and highs. Jasper has had some close calls, but he is incredibly strong. And although communication with him is difficult, we can read him like a book. When he is enjoying the swimming pool, we can see and feel his joy.

Special Fun Facts
Jasper is part of a busy household. Together with his brothers Lucas (15) and Floris (12), our cat Kate and dog Reza. His mother Nadine only leaves Jasper 2-3 hours per day, when she goes out to her horses Bo and Topper. Father Raymond started his own business, so he could work from home. His brothers can handle some of the basic care needed and are always willing to help Jasper.
